James

James in his scarf. Lea thought he was cold.

James likes the little dog on the changing table. He talks to it every time I change his diaper. It is the only toy he has reached for. Thanks Angela:).

Lea's First Day of Preschool

Lea went to her first day of preschool today. It starts very early (7:30) so I had her get her clothes out last night. We talked about getting ready to go as soon as she got up (no computer or t.v.). She had come in to my bed about 4:30 this morning. When I went to wake her up at 7:00 to get ready, she was already dressed!!! She must have put her clothes on when she woke up in the middle of the night.:)

She said school was great. She likes her buddies (the high school students assigned to her) because they help her so she doesn't have to do everything herself.

Running???

So I have been running since school started. Lea rides her bike and James goes in the stroller. After missing a week with Clara home sick I decided to go in the morning by myself. There is only one way to go that avoids the big hills and main roads. It is about 1 3/4 miles. I figured without the kids I should be able to go farther and I could take a different route without the little biker. I planned a 2 mile run that just about killed me!!! I hadn't thought about how many times I have to stop along the way to help Lea. I guess it is excercize either way, pushing the bike and stroller up the hill or running, but I have a long way to go before I'm back to where I was last year.

Binki Boy

The only trouble with having a binki is that it can get lost. We couldn't find it last night. It had been missing for a few hours but wasn't really a problem until bedtime. After looking everywhere I could think of several times, I remembered I had some other binikis and went and got one out. He took it but wasn't very happy about it. I found his binki shortly after in Lea's bed of all places. When I switched the binkis he gave a big sigh of contentment and went right to sleep.

Emma's song

Emma wrote this song at the end of Jazz Camp this summer.

Twinkle Twinkle

Clara's piano

I tried to put these all in the same post and it didn't work.

I also tried to turn them and that didn't work either. The first time we watched them they were the right way.

Headstands

Here is Lea doing one of her frequent headstands. When you watch Marianne's video, you'll see Lea's feet. She was getting tired of watching.

Thanks to Emma we finally got James smiling on the camera.

A song written by Emma after Jazz Camp this summer.

Sorry I haven't figured out how to rotate the videos yet.

PTA Blog

I was quite proud of myself this week. I started this so I could get some practice in blog making. I am the fundraiser chair for our school this year and thought it would be beneficially if we could have a way for making online donations. This week I got the school blog all ready thanks to everyone's help on how to do things I even figured out how to get a paypal button on the blog! You can visit it at westridgepta.blogspot.com.

Cold or Allergies???

I love working in the yard this time of year when the weather is nice. I always have lots of yard work to do in the fall since I don't do so much when it is hot and humid, especially this year. A few weeks ago I spent the morning working outside and let James sleep in the stroller. The next day he was congested. I figured he had got a cold. It went away a few days later . . . when he hadn't been outside for a few days.
The day before he cried all day, I'd worked outside all morning again. So cold or allergies?? Definitely allergies. I have tried to keep his outside time to a minimum since then. We take our morning walk but after that I only work when he is sleeping or Anthony is home to watch him. A couple of times when I thought he was sleeping or left him in the living room and Anthony couldn't hear him, he has been crying. (I should have taken a picture with his eyes all red and teary for those of you who think he never cries.) Of course then I feel bad that he was crying, but not so bad as when he is all stuffy and can't breathe. Today he woke up all stuffy again. I did not even take him on a walk yesterday. Cold or allergies?? Cold compliments of Lea.

Lea and Ben

Lea and her friend Ben washing the carport roof.

They get along great and love to play together. They have conversations that go something like this often:
"When we are parents, lets get married."
Or "Let's have kids when we are growned up."
They usually agree on the matter.
One day Lea said "We'll have to see. I might marry you, I might marry Jonathan."
I don't remember what Ben said but he wasn't looking too happy. So Lea said "Maybe I'll marry both of you and have two houses."
More of Lea's wisdom
Driving to pick up the kids from school one day Lea said: "Don't worry Mom I can take care of everything. I can do it all!" After a long pause, "Except for driving. I can't drive. I'm not old enough."
Later she clarified that was just in terms of taking care of James.

50th

James is doing much better this evening. He cried off and on for the afternoon but has been his usual cheerful self this evening. We are all very glad!! He weighs 12 1/2 pounds and measured 23 inches. He is in 50th percentile for weight, 25-50 for height and 50-75 for head circumference. He seems like a big kid but I guess boys are suppose to be bigger then girls:).

Whew!

James cried for 4 hours this morning. He dozed off a few times when he had worn himself out but started again after 10-15 minutes. I think his stomache hurt. I don't know if he was sick, I ate something that didn't agree with him, it was all the gas because he fell back asleept without burping during the night, or his system was just on overload. He is finally sleeping soundly. I hope we don't have to do that again! This is James "baby calendar" since I couldn't find one in the store. I had started one on gmail the first month, but can't keep both going. He is going to the doctor today and I will post some time after.
