Ben Anthony Maughan

Ben was born on May 7, 2013 at 2:13 pm.  He weighed 8 lbs 3 oz and is 20 1/4 inches.  The nurses were all guessing he was 9 pounds because he was chubby.  He's just short for an 8 pound baby.  He lost his chubby cheeks the first few days but is starting to eat more and I'm sure they'll be back before long.  He has wide shoulders, big hands (which were also chubby), a barrel chest and lots of hair.  We were planning on naming him Samuel or maybe William, but after our first look both Anthony and I thought of Ben.  At our name voting on Sunday the three final choices were Samuel Eric, William Oliver or Ben Anthony, in that order but Ben came out on top.
The first couple days I had to wake him every 4 hours to feed him but he has started waking on his own this weekend and even staying awake more.  Of course the first time he stayed up a lot it was night and he didn't go to sleep until 3 am:).  Saturday evening I wouldn't let everyone hold him so he would stay awake and sleep last night.  Worked much better.
All the kids adore him.  They place dibs on who gets to hold him first when they get home from school.  James keeps saying how cute he is.  The first night after Anthony had come home and they were going to bed James said, "He sure was cute wasn't he, Dad?"  This morning he was naming his body parts and saying they were cute, cute nose, cute hair, cute cheeks etc.
We are sure glad to have him here.  He was a lot of work.  I am glad to finally be done with pregnancy and just enjoy having a baby!
